How long will it take to set up a new account?

The web page design process can take from one week to a couple months. It involves making the page design fit your company. The hosting of web pages can be done within a day if set up under MAF Web's domain name. If you want to use your own unique domain name, then it may take 3-4 days before it is activated and 2-3 more days for all Internet Providers to update their records to reflect your sites location.

Can I upgrade my account later?

Yes, you can upgrade from a budget or basic business to an enhanced business account at any time. Credit will be given for any unused hosting time towards your new account. Contact sales@mafweb.com for more information.

How can I access my web site?

- with dial-up access?
MAF Web does not provide dial-up access. If you wish to update your site yourself or receive email addressed to your site, you will need some kind of dial-up Internet access. We can work with many local ISP's (Internet Service Providers) to provide you with dial-up access. The costs start from $20 a month plus a one-time set up fee. Free email services can be obtained through services such as Juno.

- without dial-up access?
If you already have access to the internet, through AOL, CompuServe or a local Internet Service Provider, then you will be able to save money and use your existing dial-up account for all your needs. Any mail you receive through your web page can be forwarded to your existing email account, without the customer's knowledge.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is what a person types into the web browser in order to visit your web site. It is usually your business name or something related to your business that a customer will be able to remember and is followed by ".com". For example, MAF Web's domain name is mafweb.com.

Can I transfer an existing domain name?

Yes, just let MAF Web know that you already have a current domain name and we will work with the current host in the transfer process. After your current host makes the changes with InterNIC, it usually takes 3-5 days for all Internet providers to update their records with your new IP address.

How can I check if the domain name I want is available?

Use this link to check domain name availability through InterNic.

Does MAF Web handle the domain name registration?

Yes, we can do all the work necessary to register your domain name with InterNIC. You will NOT need to submit anything to InterNIC as this may delay your domain name request.

What is the InterNIC fee for domain name registration?

InterNIC currently charges $70 for new domain name registration. This fee is good for two years and can then be renewed for $35 each following year.

Can I access my domain name with or without "www" in front of it?

Yes, your domain name will be accessible either way. Your web address will then become either: "www.yourname.com" or "yourname.com".

Will there be a limit on the number of "hits" my site receives each month?

No, there is no limit to the number of times your web pages are viewed. Many web hosting sites do charge extra if you exceed a certain number of "hits", but not MAF Web.

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

If you use the "Enhanced Business" option from MAF Web, then you will automatically be able to update and have access to your web pages through FTP (file transfer protocol) 24 hours a day. Other web hosting options can order unlimited FTP access for an additional $5 a month.

How can I transfer files to my web site?

Files must be transferred to your web hosting site if your account is set up that way by FTP. FTP is the "file transfer protocol" commonly used for sending files across the internet. If you have a PPP internet account you will need FTP software. Some Internet providers such as AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy may have a built in FTP interface. Contact MAF Web Support for more information or help.

What contract and payment terms are available?

Web page design fees are due upon completion of the pages. Hosting set up fees and the first three months are due within 72 hours of the page set up. You will then be billed quarterly for the web hosting. MAF Web only accepts personal and business checks as well as cash.
